STOMACH AND CHEST

The chest is quite important as it has the pathways of the two main yin and yang meridians flowing though it

These two meridians are important for regulating the overall flow of energy

In the first few days, with the healing of the cord, avoid direct physical stimulation over and around the belly button

Hold lightly around the area with a flat hand and connect energetically as this is more beneficial

Gently place hands on baby’s abdomen without moving your hands

Be gentle as this may be uncomfortable at first

This will prepare baby for stomach massage

Do this for a few days before –every time you change his nappy

Avoid this when baby has a full tummy

Avoid massaging the belly button

Pressure point on stomach

This is baby thumb widths to each side of the naval

This is the Large intestine Bo point, which balances the energy of the large intestine/constipation

Hold the point with one thumb while the other hand supports the back

Work using the thumb in slow circular movements until the hardness eases

The response can sometimes be quite immediate so be ready with a nappy!!

WATERWHEEL

Make paddling strokes with flat Hands, one hand following the other to maintain skin contact.

Stroke from neck down and then upwards using base of palm

-Good for colic wind and digestion

If baby suffers from colic warm the tummy first with a hot water bottle or give baby a bath

THUMBS TO SIDE

Starting at navel first place flat thumbs on either side of navel and press out sideways working just beneath the rib line

This wakes up peristalsis and releases wind bubbles

Breathing exersises

January 19th, 2009

nats-pregnacy-pics-002.jpg        Why do you need to work with your breathing?

Relaxing, it helps your body to work better, it can help you become more aware of your breathing.

When you do any form of exercise, it can be helpful to be aware of your breathing.

Give you the space to be still and to be more aware of your baby. Try to spend some time each day, from early pregnancy, just sitting and breathing and being – with your body, with your baby.

The breathing exerciseFind a comfortable upright position. You may find you are comfortable sitting cross legged on the floor. You may want to prop your back against a wall. You may find you need to sit in a chair. The important thing is that you are comfortable and your spine is in an upright position. Close your eyes and begin to notice how you are breathing. Follow the movement of breath as you breathe out and in. Notice if you are breathing shallowly – which means that you will be more aware of movement in your chest and ribs – or deeply – which means that you will be aware of your abdomen moving with the breath. Notice if you hold your breath at all. Gradually begin to deepen your breath by breathing OUT more slowly. It is important to begin deepening the breath on an out breath as this is the breath of relaxation, of letting go. Each time you breathe out see if you are able to breathe out a little more slowly. It is important not to force the breath out – just relax and breathe out. As you breathe out more deeply, you will find that you gradually breathe more deeply – which means you will be more aware of the movement of your abdomen. Feel your abdomen filling with air as you breathe in and emptying as you breathe out. Place your hands on your abdomen and feel your hands being drawn in to your body as you breathe out and pushed away as you breathe in. Gradually become more aware of your baby. Imagine how it feels to your baby as you are breathing out and in. As you breathe out, your body pushes against your baby. Your baby feels squeezed, feels held, feels hugged. As you breathe in your baby feels more room to move around in. Maybe you have a strong visual image of your baby – you can see the shape of your baby’s body, curled up in the foetal position. Head and knees tucked into body, spine curled around. Maybe you have some idea of the different parts of your baby’s body – where is their spine, where are their legs, what are the different movements pushing against you. Maybe you just have a sense of a body growing inside you. Imagine what your baby is feeling. Warm fluid surrounding him/her. A sense of weightlessness. A floating feeling. Lots of space. A body to push against. Your baby is hearing the sounds you are hearing, muffled through the warm water of the amniotic fluid. Listen to the sounds around you. Your baby most of all is hearing the sound of your heart beating, the rhythmic sound of your heart, It is a constant sound for your baby – changing only slightly to speed up as you get busy and to slow down as you relax, like you are doing now. Feel the slowness of your heart beat. Your baby senses that you are relaxing. Let images, thoughts, feelings, sensations flood your body. Thoughts of your baby. Colours. Shapes. Feelings. Let your connection with your baby take you wherever you both need to go. Rest breathing deeply for as long as you need to and then slowly become aware of your own body and the position you are sitting in. Follow the movement of your breath as you breathe out and in. Gradually begin to ease your body out of your sitting position – Keep aware of your baby as you ease back into the world outside

Catherine’s story

January 19th, 2009

For 2 weeks I had false labor. I couldn’t sleep anymore, I was miserable… I understand it was my body working toward labor, but I felt like I needed something to just kick it in!I was 39 weeks and 5 days and up all night again when I decided to go ahead and purchase your book. I turned on the tv and started doing the acupressure as instructed while I watched tv from 1-2am.At 2am I decided I would try to get some sleep, but at 3am I woke up with contractions. I tried to go back to sleep like I had all of the other nights, but this time I couldn’t.I delivered my baby girl at 7:52am, less than 7 hours after purchasing your book! Maybe it was a coincidence, but I don’t think so. I truly believe that I gave my body the natural and safe stimulus it needed to get going. I labored and delivered AT HOME with NO DRUGS, and would say that my labor was EASY, possibly due to the acupressure.Oh, and one last final note: My baby had been posterior but after doing the acupressure, about an hour into labor, she turned and I suffered no back labor.Thank you so much for offering info on this safe and natural alternative to induction!Catherine Tucker, Valdosta, GA, USA

Accupressure to induce labour

January 14th, 2009

Thousands now naturally induce labor with a simple technique …

“The Proven Quick And Easy Method

 From: Dr. Lena Leino

Dear Friend,

Of course, you want to have your baby!

You want your baby to arrive more than anything else - and no wonder if you have passed the estimated delivery date and are looking for natural ways to induce labor!

Like many other pregnant mothers who have reached the advanced stages of pregnancy, you might feel discomfort no matter what position you’re in.

You might have serious difficulties in sleeping and feel daylong fatigue.

Or you might be afraid that you end up using precious days of your maternity leave - without your baby.

Your doctor may begin to talk about labor induction in a hospital because of your gestational diabeteshigh blood pressure or because he is afraid that your baby is either too small or too big.

Or, after announcing that your baby could be born “On any day now”, he tells you to wait patiently!

If you are planning a VBAC, you may face a situation when it’s either natural onset of labor or a Cesarean section – again.

All that could make you feel irritated and frustrated - perhaps stressed and depressed.

That is why this might be the most important information about the natural ways to induce labor you ever read……because pressing specific spots along your skin could start your labor in a safe and natural way in 48 hours!

Research proves that acupressure for labor is one of the best ways to naturally induce labor - in a safe and effective way!

Acupressure techniques help you to induce labor naturally, and have an easier and shorter labor!

Acupressure helps you avoid medical labor induction and brings on your labor naturally.

Acupressure points for inducing labor help the cervix dilatespeed up slow early labor, help your baby to descend, and stimulate labor contractions.

Furthermore, Maternity Acupressure relieves other issues that delay labor.

What is wonderful, is that this method does NOT over stimulate your body or distress your baby, because it just helps your body work better, in an optimal way!

Maternity Acupressure helps you to induce labor naturally

without risking your baby’s health

Acupressure has been actively used by millions of people for almost four thousand years. This ancient technique has also been studied in depth by Western institutions for several decades.

It has been proven to be safe by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), among other reputed research institutions.

An increasing number of pregnant mothers and pregnancy care professionals use acupressure today. Had this technique caused any distress for the mother or the baby, labor acupressure would have disappeared long ago.

On the contrary, it has been shown that acupressure prevents the baby from becoming distressed, because it makes labor easier and shorter and helps to avoid medical interventions.

Maternity Acupressure is safe for mother and baby.

  Yes, and it does work!

The Maternity Acupressure method is currently getting more and more popular among pregnant women, doulas, midwives and doctors right now. Not only can acupressure help you to start labor naturally, but it can also dramatically improve your birthing experience – simply and naturally.

Simply pressing specific points on your body can quickly help you to go into labor naturally.

Scientific evidence proves that natural labor induction with acupressure is and effective. Stimulation of specific acupressure pointsinduces labor in upto 83% of women within 48 hours, sometimes in 25 minutes.

Acupressure triggers your labor by stimulating contractions, helping your cervix to dilate and getting your baby to descend.

Research shows that labor acupressure significantly shortens the delivery time. Women who use labor acupressure have a delivery time two hour shorter than on average.

Simple labor acupressure techniques give effective labor pain relief, without any risk of stopping your contractions.

Acupressure is a very simple hands-on technique. Because it is merely about putting pressure on the relevant body points, and nothing more, you don’t need any experience or specific aptitude in order to treat acupressure points effectively.

With basic instructions you will be able to locate the labor acupressure points. The technique involves merely applying firm pressure on the acupressure point for a moment.

If you can PRESS A SPOT on your skin with your thumb, you can do acupressure too.

You can treat the acupressure points on your own. Or your partner or another support person could massage the acupressure points for you.
